Hi {Contact_First_Name}
Coaching the Millennial Generation - For this month's Member Call, we have another topic that should be of vital interest to every coach - coaching Millennials. Absolutely plan to be on this call if it is at all possible. It bears directly on the success of your coaching. Make sure you go to the CCN site to get the worksheet for the call.
Growing up "inside" postmodern culture, the Millennial Generation (those born 1980-1994) operates quite differently than the modernist Boomer Generation, largely the parents of these Millennials.
Coaching principles, which were created by the Boomer world for the Boomers and Gen X workforce-- and aided and abetted by psychologists from that era-- may need a good bit of tweaking for success with the Millennials.
Healthy Christian Millennials respond well to coaching and welcome it on their terms, and most see therapy as a waste of time; but for the vast majority of Millennials who continue adolescent identity formation well into their later 20s, coaching in the classical sense is ineffective.
This hour is meant to train Boomer coaches to understand the Millennial mindset to increase coaching effectiveness with this younger generation.
Presenter, Gwen Griffith is a nearly certified coach working in the Greater Philadelphia region. Prior to coaching, she has been in youth ministry, education, and consulting. During her stint as a consultant, she wrote a substantial "white paper" for an organization on the Millennial generation. She has been mentoring twentysomethings for 9 years at her church and brings insights to shape the coaching industry for this age group. She can be reached at: faithbasedcoach@gmail.com or by phone: 215-341-6660.
