And I Have Questions!

How About you?

My good friend Len White has been using video to get his unique message out every Monday for well over a year. It’s opened up opportunities he never dreamed of, an appearance on television, connections with interesting people, people seeking his advice and expertise, opportunities to point to the Lord and collaborate on kingdom projects.

Just the kind of things I suspect you would like …

Okay. Maybe most of you don’t want to be on TV. But …

This is your opportunity to learn from Len and to ask him all the questions you have about incorporating video as part of your strategy to spread your message.

Date: Wed, June 13th
Time: 1:00 – 2:30 PM Eastern

Successful online communication is driven by rich content and one of the richest type of content is video. We are 137 weeks into producing the Thank God it's Monday video devotional, which is a once a week, bible based, online video. Google likes rich content and it loves the fact that the TGIM website www.tgimvideos.com, gets updated with a fresh video every week.

I have been working in video production for about 20 years, and I have seen the tools of the trade go from being very complicated and expensive, to being very intuitive and affordable, but tools are only part of the tale, the way you utilize the tools to sculpt your content is paramount.

Today it's pretty simple to get a video online, but all video is not created equally. A high def video with crystal clear picture and sound that's poorly produced is not going to help you achieve your goal of effectively conveying a message to your audience. This is not to say that you need to be an accomplished video producer to create effective video, but there are some very basic principles that should be adhered too.

Here are Some Questions I Asked in Response to Len’s Advice.

Do You Know the Answers?

Len Will Reveal All

  1. Use a tripod, shaky video is distracting

·      What about iPhone? Blackberry? Other phones?

·      What are the best relatively inexpensive cameras for this?

·      What should I look for in a camera?

·      Are there basic rules for filming myself, others? (Distance away from tripod, trial and error etc?)

  1. Invest in a basic wireless mic, or to insure your audio quality is the best possible

·         Can you recommend one or two brand names?

·         How far away can I be from the mic?

·         What about the mics that go on your lapel?

  1. Work from a script, film and review yourself practicing. Looking nervous or unsure on camera will only take away from what you are trying to do.

·         Should I put my practice run on YouTube?

·         Won't it be available for people to see?

·         Or can I have private, for my viewing only, stuff up there while I learn?

  1. Hone your scripts, cut out the fat, video should be used to enhance what you're offering. I would suggest keeping your messages under three minutes.

·         About how many pages of script would three minutes be?

·         Do I have to engage an editor or can I do something reasonable myself?

  1. Consider your environment, especially the back ground, there should be no distractions to take away from your message, and my number one suggestion here, is not to film yourself standing or sitting in front of a wall.

·         Does background color matter?

·         If I'm not in front of a wall, where should I be?

·         How much distraction is too much if I’m just shooting myself? ... moving objects? A library? A desk full of stuff?

Additional questions you might wish to ask:

·         Should I get my own YouTube Account/channel?

·         Doesn't video take up huge amounts of space on my computer?

·         Approx how much cost is involved to have someone like yourself do a top and tail for a series?

·         Do I just 'plug and play' into what you produce for me?

·         What would you require from me to create something?

·         What information should I have ready prior to speaking with you?

You may have the resources to utilize a professional such as myself, my advice would be to get someone to create a customized opening and closing for your videos. A huge part of TGIM, is the opening sequence that grabs the viewers attention and sets up the video to come. Hiring someone to tweak your videos is much more affordable then hiring someone to create your videos, if your content is rock solid, a pro can take this and dress it up and make it eye catching. Frequency means a lot online, taking sometime and creating a series of videos can go a long way in terms of boosting your online presence.

I have included some of my links that you can take a look at to see some of the examples I am talking about. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. lennoxwhite@gmail.com
