“One person talks; the other listens. It’s so basic that we take it for granted. Unfortunately, most of us think of ourselves as better listeners than we actually are.” (Michael P. Nichols in his book The Lost Art of Listening, How learning to Listen Can Improve Relationships.)

Vicki Corrington, PCC, CPCC will facilitate this interactive session where we will explore this competency together and take a look at some practical examples/exercises/tools that can help us become aware and take our skill to a new level.

  • Basic review of the ICF definition.
  • Discuss what is required for coaching at the PCC level.
  • Identify key aspects of what makes this competency so important.
  • Identify what happens to the conversation when this competency is weak or ineffective.
  • Identify the common pitfalls in regards to the competency.
  • Identify ways to overcome the pitfalls or to hone the coach’s skills.
  • Share best practices, strategies, techniques, activities, ideas, role-plays for coaching at the PCC level in this competency.
