Shouting on the Bridge
“Awesome.” Does that sum up what our God is like? Describe how amazing He is? Not even close.
But it’s good to try; we are even encouraged in scripture to have a go at describing to God what He is like. Even shout out loud how great are the things He does:
Shout joyfully to God, all the earth; sing the glory of His name; make His praise glorious. Say to God, “How awesome are Your works!” Psalm 66:1-3
Hopefully the bridge line will be able to take the strain of all that shouting.
We might even try a spot of brainstorming all the amazing things has done, and is still doing – ok, maybe not all of them, but how many could we get down in say, 5 minutes? Then offer them back to him in praise, directing our attention onto Him, and blessing Him in the process. If you aren’t into competitive word games, just bring a bible and follow along, or share a scripture or two of your own.
But maybe your current experience of God is more like this:
You laid an oppressive burden upon our loins. You made men ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water…
Psalm 66:11b-12a
Then come and hear, and be encouraged.
