Cheryl Scanlan, PCC
will review this particular coaching competency in an interactive manner that will help you sharpen your skills and expand your coaching capabilities.

Have you ever been at a social engagement and watched  as someone walks in the room and suddenly, the entire tone of the room changes?

You as a coach, have a tremendous opportunity to create an environment that fully supports your client’s success as determined by how you manage your coaching presence. What kind of impact do you want to have on that room as you enter into the engagement depends on your understanding of and response to the following:

  • Who are you as you coach?
  • How invisible do you really need to be as a coach?
  • Where do you subtly and perhaps without even realizing it, insert yourself into your client's process?
  • How do you manage your own enthusiasm or frustration (or anything in between) during the call?
  • What, in our behavior or presence, could be disruptive to the client’s process?
  • What do you do if the client topic is ‘too close for comfort?’
  • How do I be me in a session but make sure it’s all about the client?

These are just a few of the questions we may explore in the Core Insights Session on Managing Coaching Presence.

Learning Objectives:

  • To revisit the ICF core competency definition.
  • Discuss the importance of this competency.
  • Discuss how this competency is applied in a conversation.
Discuss the types of questions or skills would lend itself to these competencies.
  • Review the minimum skill required by the ICF.
  • To listen to a short modeling of the competency, if time allows.

Come ready to learn how to truly become invisible.  We will take ‘it’s not about you’ to a whole new level in this workshop.
