Rejoice in the Lord!

What determines our ability to rejoice – to be glad, to choose joy, to delight in our God?

When things are going well, if we are making steady progress towards achieving worthwhile goals in all the important areas of life and we are at peace with who we are and are becoming – then celebration of life is an easy choice.

But rejoicing isn’t so straightforward when those we care about are having a hard time. When we feel that our strength isn’t up to the task. When the road is rough, steep or cloaked in fog. Maybe rejoicing is difficult even in the good times; we can feel just a little guilty about our successes, especially when others aren’t doing so well.

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:4-7)

Paul knew the importance and experience of rejoicing always, in every situation. Don’t let circumstances rob you of the joy that is yours through the grace that God’s free gift to you. The joy of the Lord is your strength!

Let’s meet together in October to rejoice together, encourage one another and acknowledge the One who is the true source of our joy. But beware – joy has been known to be contagious so you might catch something!
