LiveDEVOTION: Be Prepared

The season of Advent is a time of preparation. Preparation for the celebrations, for family, for Christmas themed worship and to remember the awesome event when God broke into humanity in a way He hadn’t tried before: God in human form, Immanuel. But this didn’t happen without years of careful planning – actually much longer even than that. We see God preparing for the escape of His chosen people, preparing the work for us, preparing our eternal home. He calls us to prepare too – so how do we prepare for Him this season?

For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. Therefore, when He comes into the world, He says, “Sacrifice and offering You have not desired, But a body You have prepared for Me; In whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You have taken no pleasure. “Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come (In the scroll of the book it is written of Me) To do Your will, O God.’”
Heb 10:4-7

God prepared the body for Jesus so that coming as Immanuel - God among us - he could become an offering pleasing to God. A sacrifice that, unlike those required by the law, would take away sin. But God's plans for Jesus didn't stop there...
