MANAGING PROGRESS & ACCOUNTABILITY


Michael J. Marx will facilitate this interactive session where this competency will be explored together and will take a look at some practical examples/exercises/tools that can help us become aware and take our skill to a new level.

Managing progress is about helping the client form a plan that works.  Managing accountability is about helping them stay on track; holding their feet to the fire. This competency more than any other results in actual traction for the client.

Here are some goals about managing progress and accountability:

1. The coach encourages the client to explore progress toward what s/he wants to accomplish in the coaching conversation, and/or long-term coaching goals.

2. Coach invites or allows client to consider her/his path forward, including, as appropriate, support mechanisms, resources and potential barriers.

3. The coach encourages client’s self-discipline and holds the client accountable for what they say they are going to do, with related time frames and method of accountability.

4. Coach assists the client to design the best methods of accountability for her/himself.


This core competency event offers one (1) hour of ICF/BCC/CCNI continuing education.
