CORE INSIGHTS SERIES 2019

DIRECT COMMUNICATION

Direct communication does not mean being rude. It means knowing “how” (and more importantly “when”) to interject ideas, thoughts, resources, etc. We will look at how to use the skill of Direct Communication within the context of skills-based non-directive coaching. This is a competency about which there is much confusion and the one in which coaches often feel they can get into trouble.  This presentation is a must for all of us wanting to improve our coaching conversation skills.

Learning points:

1.  Knowing when and how to interject Direct Communication into the coaching conversation;

2.  Distinguishing between using Direct Communication and being directive; and,

3.  Enhancing one’s skill of Active Listening whilst also being open to share directly with clients.

This core competency event offers one (1) hour of ICF/BCC/CCNI continuing education.
