Do you have a compelling vision for the work you are doing, that fuels your passion and draws you forward to its fulfilment?
Are you actively putting preparations in place to resource both the planning and building phases, making sure that, having decided to build a tower, you have the wherewithal to complete it? (Luke 14:28). I hope so.
There are numerous examples in scripture underlining the importance of fixing our eyes on a goal – The Goal – and planning diligently toward fulfilment.
Plans that are both inspired by and committed to God. David is one such example, spending time carefully seeking God, planning and preparing for the day when he could begin work on building a place for his Lord – right in the heart of the kingdom. But then…
David rose to his feet and said, “Listen to me, my brothers and my people. It was in my heart to build a house as a resting place for the ark of the Lord’s covenant and as a footstool for our God. I had made preparations to build, but God said to me, ‘You are not to build a house for My name because you are a man of war and have shed blood.’ 1 Chron 28:2-3
Maybe It’s because I’m getting older, but I am increasingly aware of the importance of stewardship and its place in our walk with God. One of the aspects of stewardship is the sense of taking care of what we have been given – not just for the benefit of others, but with the clear purpose of passing it on in better shape than when we received it. David was the right leader in times of warfare, but his son Solomon was God’s choice to stand on his father’s shoulders and complete the work. Join other Christian coaches at noon Eastern on Thursday 6 March to talk, pray, and consider God’s preparation – in our clients, for ourselves, and for those who might complete what we started.
