    ADHD Coaching Awareness for Coaches

    PART 1: Introduction to ADHD

with Donnalea Barber and Joanne Norris

NOTE: please register for each session separately. Each session can stand alone but there is great benefit in doing all 3 sessions if possible.

If you are struggling to support some of your clients, ADHD may well be at the heart of this. We invite you to join our series of 3 presentations which will address questions Life coaches and their neuro-divergent clients have about ADHD:

People who have ADHD need a coach who understands what it means to have ADHD and can adapt their coaching techniques accordingly. ADHD coaching has been found to be extremely helpful for adults with this special type of brain.

Here are some key truths about Life coaching and ADHD:

    1. 85% of adults who have ADHD do not know they have it. Coaches may already be coaching clients with ADHD and may not realize this.
    2. With Covid-19, more adults are working remotely and discovered they have ADHD.
    3. It’s important to understand what it means to be an adult who has experienced undiagnosed or misdiagnosed ADHD.
    4. Each ADHD clients’ brain is uniquely wired - like a fingerprint - and traditional life coaching methods are typically not adequate to fully meet their needs.
    5. Life coaches specialized in ADHD are not common and are difficult to find.

Some objectives for this 3-part event series includes:

    • Learn about what it means to have ADHD and its related conditions, particularly Autism.
    • Recognize how ADHD will affect coaching strategies, techniques and tools that you use as a Life Coach and how they might need to be modified.
    • Understand the importance of stepping with their clients into a coaching space that will be very different from their neurotypical clients.
    • Develop awareness about low self-esteem and limiting beliefs as specific challenges for these clients and understand these issues must be addressed comprehensively early on in the coaching alliance.
    • Learn some aspects of the Neuro-Linguistic Programming [NLP] coaching philosophy as well as some NLP coaching techniques that can facilitate coaching those with ADHD and possibly high-functioning Autism.

Part 1: October 14, 2021 – “Introduction to ADHD and Coexisting Conditions and Related Conditions” (characteristics of people with “Special” brains (ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, etc.)

ADHD is a highly heritable neurobiological and neurodevelopmental condition with a genetic component. It is a life-long condition that impacts parts of the brain (structure, chemistry function and neural networks), affecting one’s ability to organize, function and manage executive and cognitive activities, emotional responses and overt behaviors.  People with ADHD have also many strengths and talents because of their unique brain wiring; oftentimes, they are not fully aware of this because the focus at school was always on their deficits.

Be sure to register separately for the Part 2 and Part 3

Part 2:  Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 2pm ET -- “Coexisting Conditions / Indicators / Red Flags:” Typical challenges for people who have ADHD, Autism, etc. and how these impact coaching

Part 3: November 4, 2021 at 2pm ET – “Shared Characteristics /Strategies / Techniques and Accommodations” Strategies that work and are needed for people with “Special” brains

    Women in Coaching Community (Evening)

    Facilitated by Susan Litwiller

Please join us for the next Women in Coaching evening event on March 16, 2021, where we will discuss the nature and goodness of God through the Fruit of the Spirit. How can we encourage our coaching clients to build healthy habits while developing fruitfulness? In what ways does the Lord cultivate circumstances in our lives to produce a bountiful harvest? How is our own fruitfulness a reflection of the Lord’s work in our
    hearts?

    Galatians 5:22-23 (AMP)
But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law.

You are invited to connect with other Christian women who are growing as a coach. This evening community group is an added addition to the Women in Coaching Thursday morning group. Pick the time and day that works best for you, or get extra support by attending both.

This interactive group for women meets once a month and offers encouragement and support in your coaching journey.

Are you working on a coaching idea or project? Come and share your ideas and get feedback. Do you have a success you want to share? Let us celebrate with you. Get to know other coaches from around the country and learn from one another. We will talk about a variety of subjects. Come ready to share your stories and resources and pray for one another. Join the community!

Note: This monthly event meets the third Tuesday of the month.

    Writer's Learning Community:

    Empowering the Writer Within

Special Opportunity to Grow as a Writer!

Dr. Rich Weigel, President of CCNI, will be hosting a Learning Community for writers. This is an opportunity for Christian Coaches who feel they have been called to write – to find a community of other believers who also feel that calling. This learning community will meet one time each month for three months commitment. (August-October). You will need to register for EACH month.

Our CCNI Writer’s Learning Community (WLC) is a project that is the embodiment of what we as Christian Coaches believe. We all need a coach to help us to reach our potential. We need someone to will help us to discover what we want and then walk along side to help us build our motivation and accountability. So it is with our writing.

Quoting from Mark Batterson in his book Chase the Lion, “We don’t get where God wants us to go by ourselves! If we go it alone, we’ll get lost somewhere along the way. Then who’s going to pick you up when you fall down? And who’s going to push you to your potential.”

If you believe that God has called you to write, then this may be just the venue for you. As a Writer’s Learning Community, we meet monthly for just one hour. During that time there will be one person who shares something they do for writing. (Like the person who says they take their shoes off to write because they believe that it’s like holy ground.) We will talk about accountability, set a goal for what we will have done by the next time we meet, and we will do breakout rooms, so you’ll talk to other writes in a small group.

What have you been writing? Are you ready to take it to the next level. That is another facet of what we’re going to do.

Like the Inklings of old, (the writer's group that included C.S Lewis and J.R. Tolkien), we are bringing together people who feel the need to share what we are writing. But unlike them or any other form of a writer’s community, we are Christian brother and sister coaches who have the skills to encourage, critique, correct, argue, advise, and push each other to get our writing done always with the view of giving God the glory.

If you’re feeling the Holy Spirit’s push to write, then this may be a tool to help you move toward discovery of what to do with that push.

    Purpose of this group:

    • To support Christian Coaches who want to write.
    • To build Christian writers to influence the culture.

    Outcome:

We will encourage and push each other to new levels and improvements of our writing.

    Who should participate:

Christian Coaches who are ready to write – right now.

    Time and Date:
4th Monday's of .the month, 5:30pm Eastern Time

Dates for the Three-month Writer's Learning Community are

    • Aug 23, 2021
    • Sept 27, 2021
    • Oct 25, 2021

Dr. Weigel, (Rich), has been involved in the field of education for over 30 years. He is a Strengths Champion Coach in addition to his background as a national trainer with VitalSmarts and Professional Learning Communities. He has been an adjunct professor for 4 different universities and written the curriculum or taught classes for business ethics, leading change, interpersonal leadership, instructional design, and educational leadership.

Rich is the current President of Christian Coaches Network International and is the vice president for a N.W. Indiana group called the Shared Ethics Advisory Board. His writings include a series of articles about leadership skill development and multiple curricular units. He is looking to publish his Strength-Based Coaching Leadership Workbook, editing a fun book called Simple – But True, and continuing his work on a book called Leading God’s Way for Lasting Impact. Hopefully you’ve read some of his writing as the president’s message for CCNI. https://christiancoaches.com/take-a-stand/

He is married with 3 adult children and believes that since there is nothing in the Bible that says, “thou shalt retire,” he wants to keep trying to do more of what God has called him to do. ADHD Coaching Awareness for Coaches

    PART 2: Coexisting Conditions
    and Impact on Coaching

with Donnalea Barber and Joanne Norris

Part 2:  October 28, 2021 at 2pm ET -- “Coexisting Conditions / Indicators / Red Flags:” Typical challenges for people who have ADHD, Autism, etc. and how these impact coaching

The focus in this session will be on the typical challenges (limitations) that people who have ADHD experience and how these impact coaching. ADHD rarely present alone, often coexisting with Autism, dyslexia, anxiety, depression, bipolar, etc. The effect these secondary conditions have on a client – whether they protect or exacerbate the underlying ADHD – is key to how the client is affected by ADHD in adulthood. As ADHD presents in women in a different way than men, we will focus separately on women who have ADHD.

If you are struggling to support some of your clients, ADHD may well be at the heart of this. We invite you to join our series of 3 presentations which will address questions Life coaches and their neuro-divergent clients have about ADHD:
